MISSING FOR TWO AND HALF YEARS!
“Just over two years ago, a beautiful, nervous, little female cat called Boudica came into Guernsey Animal Aid for rehoming. She found a loving home, but very sadly she managed to escape after only a week with her new family, and all efforts to find her failed. As many of you who know us, and follow our page, we don’t ever switch off! We quite often find ourselves worrying and thinking about little cats that have gone missing, and we also, have many sleepless nights. We never forgot about Boudica, and often wondered what had happened to her.
Just before Christmas, we had a call from a lady, saying that had a cat had appeared in her garden, a very nervous and frightened cat, and she had been trying to build up her trust for quite a few months. Eventually, she managed to get the cat in her house, and we went down straight away to scan her for a microchip. Imagine our surprise and excitement when we found out that this was Boudica. She had been missing since July 2014, and she was literally 300 yards (as the crow flies) from where she was rehomed. We contacted her owners, whose circumstances had changed and were unable to take back Boudica, but they were ever so pleased that she had been found safe and well. We have no idea where she had been in the meantime before taking up residence in this lady’s garden, but she obviously felt safer there and stayed around.
The lady who had been trying to build up Boudica’s trust over the previous months, had fallen in love with her, and asked if it would be possible to keep her, as she now had no home, and we agreed. Fluffy as she is now called, has finally found her forever home.
This story, highlights the importance of microchipping and also reporting a stray cat that has lost its way. We at Guernsey Animal Aid are more than happy to come and scan for a microchip
