MISSING FOR SEVEN YEARS!
“Lydia & Mosiis were picked up by GAA as stray cats on 12 June 2019. They had been living at some stables for quite a few years, being fed by the owner of the property. We were alerted to this situation, only when the person became ill and was no longer able to ‘care for them’. Once the cats arrived at GAA, they were scanned for a microchip, and to our complete and utter surprise, they were BOTH registered to the same owner, and quite obviously had stayed together all this time. When we called the owner, she was completely overwhelmed, and burst into tears. She told us that Lydia & Mosiis had both been missing for 7 years! These cats were actively encouraged to stay at the stables, where food and bedding had been provided. No attempt had been made to trace their owner.
LYDIA & MOSIIS WERE LESS THAN 5 MINUTES FROM THEIR HOME!!!
PICK UP THE PHONE, LETS GET THEM HOME!!!
There is an alarming number of cats missing at the current time. If you have a cat that is around your property for more than 2 days, if it appears to be hungry or lost, or wanting to come inside, please, please call for help
Whilst we do not advise feeding other peoples cats, it is important to put food down for a ‘stray cat’ so that it will stay in the area, until it can be caught and scanned for a microchip. There are still so many owners who are desperate for news of their much loved pet. Sadly, we hear the same old story again and again” ~ “That one day a cat appeared, I gave it some food, and it stayed.” Although it might seem kindly, it is in fact a very cruel thing to do, as many owners are extremely distressed at the loss of their pet. Here at Guernsey Animal Aid, our ultimate aim is to reunite any pet with its family “
