MISSING FOR FIVE YEARS!
“This is a serious quest to try to help those heartbroken people who have lost their cat.
Charlie is now 10 years old, and 5 years ago, he went missing from his home. His owners tried desperately to find him, they even put an advert in the paper, but Charlie was never seen or heard of until now.
THIS IS CHARLIE’S STORY…
5 years ago Charlie turned up on the doorstep of a lady, who fed him and encouraged him into her home, where he lived with his microchip for 3 years. When the lady moved out from her property, she left Charlie behind. He lived as a stray for another 2 years, until recently, when another lady, realising that he was a stray, thank goodness, had the foresight to call us, and we picked him up. He was microchipped and we were able to contact his owners. They were extremely shocked, as you can imagine, and honestly thought that he had been killed. Five years on, their circumstances have changed, they now have two small children and Charlie is now not of the right temperament to live with them. Very sadly, they have signed him over to to us for rehoming.
This whole sorry story, could have been prevented if the lady in question had contacted either Guernsey Animal Aid, any of the vets, or the Gspca, and Charlie could have been reunited with his family almost immediately.
We hear this story, again and again, with people that have no idea of their cats age, because ‘one day a cat turned up on their doorstep and they decided to keep it’. Although it appears to be a kindly act, it is in fact a very cruel thing to do, as some owners are extremely distressed at the loss of their pets. Please remember Charlie’s Story, and if you think that there is a stray cat on your property, please call for help and try to stop this happening again.
