MISSING FOR 20 MONTHS!
Kobi came to the attention of Guernsey’s Lost and Found Pets formerly Animal in in July 2025. He had been missing from his home in Sables d’Or for 20 months and although there had been some sightings of Kobi when he first disappeared, he hadn’t been seen for a long time.
Janie visited the area and through a series of educated guesses and a large dollop of sheer luck, she found Kobi within 20 minutes! He was well hidden under a van not too far from home. It was clear he was well fed and in fact he was fatter than went he went missing! An “Unauthorised Feeder Alert” was issued, tips were received and Kobi was observed for 12 days/nights to collect evidence.
Investigation complete, Kobi has been recovered and is at home today. He will be kept inside for several weeks and fitted with a tracker when he is allowed outside again.
This is another case highlights the hurt and upset caused by people who think feeding and/or housing a cat that doesn’t belong to them is acceptable, it is not, it stops them from returning home.
Please note that if you are ever concerned about a cats welfare, it is acceptable to feed a cat that you don’t own. We actively encourage people to feed a potential stray cat to keep it in the area and contact an authorised body (Guernsey Lost & Found Pets or GSPCA) to get it scanned for a possible microchip and be reunited with its family.
