MISSING FOR THREE YEARS!
“Just over three years ago, Lionel went missing from his home in St Andrews. Lionel had originally been rehomed by GAA. He was a very special and dear little fella, who touched all our hearts. As many of you who know us, and follow our page, we don’t ever switch off! We never forgot about Lionel, and quite often wondered what had happened to him.
Just this week we received a call from a lady who works for a local estate agent, and she explained that every time she went to do a viewing at a particular property, she kept seeing this friendly and very vocal cat, who was ‘always there’….she asked us if we would scan him for a microchip.
Imagine our surprise and delight, when we found that this was indeed Lionel, who went missing from his home in March 2015.
Lionel had actually turned up at this property in 2016, but he was never reported as a stray. The property is now empty, and in the process of being sold, and sadly Lionel was left behind. Thank goodness this estate agent had the foresight to call us, and we really can’t thank her enough. Lionel’s family were overjoyed, but extremely shocked to hear that he had been found safe and well. Sadly their circumstances have now changed and they are unable to take Lionel back.
We hear this story, again and again, with people who have no idea of their cats age, because ‘one day a cat turned up on their doorstep and they decided to keep it’. Although it appears to be a kindly act, it is in fact a very cruel thing to do, as most owners are extremely distressed at the loss of their pets.
If you think there is a stray cat around your property, please call for help and try to stop this happening again.
